BENDIGO PINOT & PICASSO

Feb 25, 2022 | ClubHub

Spanish born painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso was renowned for an exceptionally diverse and prolific portfolio of work, most of it generated from his time in France. We’re pretty sure he never made it to Bendigo, but that has not stopped Bendigo District RSL from hosting a Pinot and Picasso night.

If this conjures up images of sipping pinot whilst perusing Picasso’s work, you would only be half correct. This innovative pop-up studio is very hands on with participants rolling up their sleeves, donning protective aprons and releasing their inner creativity.

Seated in front of easels with all materials provided, budding artists or just those wanting some fun, are encouraged via an instructor to create artwork that expresses themselves – all with a glass of pinot close by.

The one-off classroom style event was appropriate for any level of experience and pre-planned by a highly qualified artist, with the content broken down for beginner painters. Although the more experienced painters certainly enjoyed the experience.

Manager Martin Beekes explained that the ticket price included a three hour paint session and a house wine/beer on arrival and any extra food and drinks required were purchased by attendees on the night.

This seems like a great way to broaden the club’s appeal, attract a new clientele, and perhaps fill an empty function room for the night. Whatever the objective, participants at Bendigo District RSL certainly enjoyed painting, sipping and relaxing while producing their own masterpieces.
