Bringing in the Good Fortune, Food and Festivities
For many years, Greyhounds Entertainment has proudly celebrated Lunar New Year, and it remains one of the most anticipated events on the club’s annual calendar. What began as a community celebration has grown into a major cultural highlight, attracting members and guests not only from the local area but also from well beyond the LGA.
In fact, interest builds long before the official date is even announced. Members and guests often call up to three months in advance to secure a table at Dawson’s Bistro, a clear sign of how much the community looks forward to the celebration each year.
Festivities typically commence from 6pm, allowing guests to settle in and soak up the atmosphere. Live music sets the tone for the evening, creating an energetic and welcoming environment throughout the venue. A major highlight is the combined Lion Dance and Dragon Dance performance, weaving through the bistro and surrounding spaces, bringing colour, movement and tradition to life. Guests can take photos and experience the celebration up close before the night concludes with the thrilling sound of firecrackers.
All members attending the event also have the opportunity to enter the club’s Major Draw, adding another layer of excitement with the chance to win a range of prizes.
This year, alongside the popular offerings at Dawson’s Bistro and the Trackside Noodle Bar, guests can enjoy freshly fried dumplings prepared by the club’s chefs in Box 9, the outdoor dining area complete with its own bar. Paired with live music from Brandon Burns, the setting creates a relaxed yet vibrant space where guests can dine, connect and celebrate together.

Springvale is home to one of the largest Chinese and broader Asian communities in Victoria. By celebrating Lunar New Year, Greyhounds Entertainment demonstrates its genuine cultural understanding and respect for the people who live in the area. For many families, Lunar New Year represents togetherness, tradition, food and good fortune. When the club becomes part of that celebration, it evolves from simply being a venue into a meaningful gathering place for the community.
The event is truly for everyone. Families, groups of friends and first time visitors are warmly welcomed, and many return year after year after experiencing the atmosphere and hospitality for themselves.

Beyond Lunar New Year, Greyhounds Entertainment continues to deliver engaging events throughout the year. “March into GE” is dedicated to seniors, featuring a special three course meal for $26.90. Easter remains a favourite tradition, with indulgent chocolate hampers given away to members, and Mother’s Day sees chefs curate a special menu to mark the occasion. The club is also building excitement around the upcoming FIFA World Cup with themed activations and screenings across the venue.
Community support remains central to the club’s mission. Greyhounds Entertainment participates in ANZAC Day fundraising through badge donations, supports FightMND through the
Big Freeze initiative, and in 2026 marks its second year participating in the Parma for Palliative Care initiative.
Through cultural celebrations, seasonal events and meaningful community partnerships, Greyhounds Entertainment continues to strengthen its connection with the people of Springvale and beyond, creating experiences that are vibrant, inclusive and deeply rooted in community spirit.
