Ocean Grove Bowling Club’s major redevelopment continues to move forward with strong momentum, with the project grand opening scheduled for early September 2025. Since turning the soil in October last year, the Club has made significant strides toward delivering one of Victoria’s most impressive undercover bowls and entertainment precincts.
To mark the completion of the redevelopment, the Club is planning a four-day Grand Opening Event Series from 11 to 14 September 2025. A Gala Event will take place on Saturday 13 September, showcasing the venue to members, dignitaries, and industry leaders. A Free Family Fun Day will follow on Sunday 14 September, featuring live music, barefoot bowls, come and try day, face painting, magician, coffee van and family-friendly entertainment.

Nathan O’Neill, Chief Executive Officer, said the redevelopment is not only transforming the club physically but also paving the way for a bold new era in Community engagement, event delivery, and regional tourism. ‘We are incredibly proud of the progress made and the excellence shown by our project partners. The redevelopment will elevate Ocean Grove Bowling Club to new heights, not just as a sporting venue, but as a place of connection and celebration, O’Neill said.
The new 16-rink undercover facility at Ocean Grove Bowling Club is taking shape, with the roof canopy now complete, a major milestone that defines the scale and presence of the world-class redevelopment. This structural achievement has set the stage for the next critical phase, with the installation of the two new synthetic greens scheduled to commence week commencing 21 July. O’Neill eagerly awaits the next phase of the redevelopment. ‘These milestones mark a significant turning point in the project as we move towards the completion of a redevelopment that will stand as a true centrepiece for the Bellarine region,’ O’Neill said.

Visible progress continues across the site with recent works including the completion of the exposed aggregate concrete around the perimeter, and the installation of glazed panels and louvres bringing the architectural vision into full view.

The framework for the two 4.5-metre digital screens is now in place, providing a clear sense of the immersive spectator experience this facility will offer when complete. Accessibility and safety has also been further improved with the installation of handrails and balustrades along the western elevation.
‘We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from our members and the wider Ocean Grove Community throughout this transformative journey. The patience and encouragement shown over the past twelve months has helped us to bring this vision to life,’ O’Neill said.
With construction entering its final stages and the finish line in sight, Ocean Grove Bowling Club is preparing to welcome members, visitors, and the broader community into a new chapter for the Club, defined by innovation, accessibility, and Community connection.
