“Welcome to the Every 1 Café…” This warm greeting is heard by over 1,000 guests as they step into the café at Amstel Club Bistro on a Friday morning at 9:30 am.

The greeting comes from one of the 15 remarkable team members who make up the café staff, their enthusiasm and sincerity shining through. The enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air, while lively chatter from the team at the coffee machine adds to the vibrant atmosphere. Guided by an experienced Amstel Club team member, they eagerly hone their skills in crafting the perfect cup of coffee.

Once you’re seated, you’ll find your table adorned with flyers detailing our café and a simple price list of drinks and muffins—each item just $2. It’s an offer you won’t find at any other local café, but we’ll get to that in a moment.

A staff member will take your order and return with a jar for cash payments. Shortly after, your coffee or drink arrives, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy serving you.

This has been the experience of over 1,000 patrons who have supported the Every 1 Café since its launch in February 2023. In just 20 months, more than 3,000 drinks have been served, and the café has become a beloved part of the Cranbourne community.

The Every 1 Café was the vision of Jo Muir, Amstel Club’s Inclusion Manager, who saw an opportunity to provide hands-on hospitality training for people living with disabilities. This café offers a nurturing environment where team members take their first steps into the world of hospitality, learning in a setting that is inclusive, supportive, and full of opportunity.

There’s a common misconception that people with disabilities face significant barriers to personal growth and skill development. At Amstel Club, we passionately disagree. Through our inclusivity programs, we’ve witnessed our team members surpass their goals, build confidence, and take on new challenges each week.

“I couldn’t be prouder of what Amstel Club has done, not only to raise awareness about inclusion but to lead by example,” says Jo Muir. “Seeing our team grow in confidence and ability has been the most rewarding part of my role. This café is more than a training ground—it’s a place where lives are transformed and conversations about inclusivity come to life.”

Amstel Club’s inclusivity programs provide real-world training for nine individuals living with disabilities, equipping them with essential skills for future employment in hospitality. These programs cover everything from greeting and seating guests, to taking orders, preparing coffee and milkshakes, and clearing tables—skills that open doors to paid work in the local hospitality sector.

This innovative project, supported entirely by Amstel Club, extends far beyond the café’s walls. “The smiles we see on our team members’ faces during each shift are proof of the immense impact this café has on their lives,” says Daniel Muir, Managing Director of Amstel Club. “It’s my hope that inclusivity initiatives like ours become the norm across the country.”

The café’s impact has sparked meaningful conversations within the internal Amstel staff community around the areas of disability and mental health. Amstel staff are eager to participate, and we now have a waiting list of employees wanting to help train the café team.

At Amstel Club, we firmly believe that everyone deserves the chance to succeed, and our inclusivity programs are breaking down barriers for those living with disabilities. Not only does the Every 1 Café offer valuable training, but it also gives back to the community. The money raised during our weekly two-hour café sessions is donated to local charities. So far, we’ve contributed $1,500 to the local SES, $1,000 to Beyond Blue, and smaller amounts to various other community groups. We expect to raise $10,000 by the end of this year.

The café’s success has extended far beyond our bistro, with features on our Facebook and Instagram pages, coverage in local papers, radio interviews, and even a segment on Channel 7. This visibility benefits not only the café team but also Amstel Club, driving conversations about inclusivity and encouraging community engagement.

Every 1 Café is just one part of the disability inclusion program that Amstel Club has been running for the past two years. To date, we have provided fully paid employment for nine people living with disabilities in our bistro, offering more than 1,200 hours of work. Our inclusive staff are treated like any other Amstel staff member—they wear the same uniforms, earn the same wages, and are fully integrated into the club’s workforce.

Looking ahead, Amstel Club is excited to welcome more inclusive staff into new and existing programs. “The heart of our club is community,” says Daniel Muir, “and providing these opportunities is simply what community clubs do. I am immensely proud to work with such extraordinary individuals, and I can’t wait to see our inclusivity programs continue to thrive.”

In FY25, Victorian Keno players enjoyed almost 10 million wins worth more than $131.9 million.

For many club patrons across Victoria, FY25 was a year to remember – all thanks to a life-changing Keno win.

Victorian players had a standout year, tallying over 9.9 million Keno wins collectively worth than $131.9 million in prize money.

In FY25, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 76 million wins collectively worth more than $1.2 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 20 millionaires and multi-millionaires who together took home more than $57.9 million. Two of these major jackpot winners were from Victoria.

Laverton woman thanks ‘manifestation magic’ for Keno win

A Laverton woman shared she was left thanking the universe after she scored a $60,000 Keno Classic 8 Spot prize at Club Laverton in the weeks leading up to last Christmas.

“It was a big surprise! Especially coming up to Christmas, it’s perfect!” she cheered.

“Do you want to hear something really funny? I just wrote in my diary the day before winning, ‘Thank you, universe, for my Keno 8 Spot win’. Then it really came true!

“I’m a firm believer in the law of attraction and manifestation, and I love affirmations!

“It was awesome seeing all eight numbers pop up on the screen.

“I’ve had a few wins in Keno over the years. It’s like the stars align for me when I play - it’s my thing!”

Club Laverton manager Gus Alimovski said the team happily shared in the excitement with their major Keno winner.

“What an incredible win for our patron! It’s always great hearing these winning stories, and now we have another one to share with our patrons,” he said.

“We’re thrilled for our customer, and we hope to see more Keno winners in our venue soon.”

All eyes on a winning FY26

Keno’s National Partner Manager Luke Harrison said he couldn’t wait to see which Victorian clubs welcomed the next big Keno winners.

“Last financial year, players at Victorian clubs celebrated some impressive victories,” he said.

“A key highlight has been the growing popularity of Keno’s Bonus and Replay features among club patrons. This trend reflects how venues are successfully connecting with their customers, sharing updates on jackpot increases, promotional offers, and game enhancements.

“When players opt into Keno Bonus, they unlock the chance to multiply their winnings by up to ten times, while the Replay option adds another layer of excitement.

“Many players are still unaware of these features, making it vital for staff to start conversations and educate them on the full range of Keno possibilities!”

Mr Harrison said the solid Keno performance at Victorian clubs last financial year laid a strong foundation for continued success in FY26.

“Clubs across Victoria are embracing fresh approaches to elevate the customer experience, and Keno’s rising popularity is playing a key role in that journey,” he said.

“There’s also a wide array of Keno resources available to clubs, from eye-catching point-of-sale materials to engaging promotions, all designed to keep the game front and centre.

“As the new financial year unfolds, Keno is looking forward to celebrating more big wins for Victorian club patrons, and more success stories for the clubs that host them.”
